Lorax geochemists apply principles of geology and chemistry to develop an understanding of the metal leaching (ML) and acid rock drainage (ARD) processes associated with a project site.

Lorax provides geochemical expertise at every stage of a project. Conceptualizing the project and reviewer requirements from the feasibility stage to closure and decommissioning phases.

Geochemical services range from evaluating road alignments to hydroelectric dams project to major mines projects to development and evaluation of GoldSim models.

Lorax geochemists work closely with staff scientists and engineers specializing in climate, hydrology, hydrogeology, water quality, aquatic biology, and oceanography to provide innovative, practical, and cost-effective solutions to earth science problems.

Lorax hydrogeologists are proficient in physical and chemical groundwater system characterization and instrumentation in environments ranging from tropical to permafrost conditions.

Lorax groundwater specialists synthesize groundwater quantity, groundwater quality, and isotope information into robust conceptual and numerical models for groundwater flow. Modeling expertise includes development of complex groundwater flow models in FeFlow.

The Lorax groundwater group works closely with the larger team of scientists and engineers to develop fully-integrated, multi-disciplinary solutions for water resource and environmental management challenges.

Hydrology & Climate

Lorax provides clients with hydrologic and climatic solutions for each stage of a project.

Lorax scientists actively engage regulators and First Nations while delivering climate and hydrological services for energy (e.g., wind power, run-of-river hydropower, and large-scale hydropower developments), metal mining, government, and research sectors.

Lorax water professionals apply their skills and experience to resolve complex, inter-disciplinary water resource and environmental management challenges.

Water Quality

Lorax provides a host of water quality services, including data analysis, modeling and reporting, for both freshwater and marine environments.

Lorax water quality specialists work closely with clients to achieve cost-effective and scientifically-defensible solutions for water management achieved through a strong technical foundation, integration with other project components, and effective communication and engagement with project stakeholders.

The Lorax water quality group collaborates with the larger team of scientists and engineers to develop fully-integrated, multi-disciplinary solutions for water resource and environmental management challenges.

Lorax physical oceanographers, geochemists and biologists utilize an integrated approach to characterize the physical, geochemical, and biological nature of open ocean and coastal marine environments.

Lorax scientists utilize a variety of specialized equipment (such as CTDs, current meters, Go-Flo Bottles, and sediment corers) in order to understand the potential impacts relevant to the development of ports, ocean related mining projects, oil and gas industry, and aquaculture industry.

Lorax’s highly skilled technical staff are experienced in working with the development of oceanographic field programs, data analysis and interpretation, and development of numerical models.

Aquatic Biology

The aquatic biologists at Lorax Environmental Services have experience that encompasses both applied and ecotoxicology. This expertise is integrated with our geochemical, hydrogeological, hydrologic and climate, and water quality specialists to develop comprehensive project solutions

Our aquatic biologists design and implement monitoring programs for a variety of project types and for various stages of projects with the intent to evaluate environmental impacts to the aquatic systems and assist clients in navigating regulatory guidelines such that timely decisions can be made to aid project development.

Lorax Environmental Services provides clients with communication tools such as 3D visualization to assist in decision making processes with respect to permitting, production planning, and mine closure.

Lorax has developed 3D perspective images, augmented reality views, and animations that provide easily recognizable views of a project’s design that can be appreciated by both technical and non-technical viewers.
